Yesterday I went to a free seminar about how to become rich. Robert Kiyosaki wasn't there himself, but we were welcomed by one of his videos. His speaker and staff were intelligent, well spoken, and entertaining. I was there for about three hours. We learned some interesting concepts, but if you want more details and step by step methods on achieving your dreams, you have to continue your education at the Rich Dad Academies. Yes, there is no such thing as a free lunch.
There are four groups of money makers. The old style, more traditional path is employee. You go to school, work hard, get a nice job, and work hard some more. Sadly, you pay the most taxes and work for someone. You are also at the mercy of the economy ala recessions and lay offs. Next up, the self employed. You literally own your own job, but you are still at the mercy of the economy. You do have better tax benefits. On the other side, you have business owners and investors. They are ideal because you have people working for you or your money working for you. You have the most tax breaks and you are also providing jobs.
After some great success stories you begin to see that this vehicle (real estate) is the easiest way to earn five digits in a month. Correct, I meant a month. Ironically, in all our years of education, we really didn't learn much about personal finances. Whatever we did learn, it came from people with little or no money themselves. Wow. Of course, pushing their training courses, doesn't it make sense to learn techniques from people who actually have money? Double wow.
He also briefly touched on knowing and using tax laws to your advantage and protecting your assets. A great presentation because it got me out of the house, made me think differently, and asked me a very important question, "What is my dream?"
